Chairman’s Message – March 2021

Dear members,

I sincerely hope you are all well and looking forward to a brighter future now that we seem to be nearing the end of this absolute nightmare we are living through of late.

When I became the Chairman of our organisation my intention was to take LLSC in a different direction to the one before. Each new Chairman has moved LLSC forward and it has evolved into what we know today. To make the next change in our continued evolution has meant taking some time to look internally at our structures and how we operate. We have identified some areas that need improving which includes such things as the website for instance. We aim to add so much more to the site and have a lot of plans to make it more of pleasurable and interesting visitor experience. Included in these plans is to continually update our merchandising arm of LLSC and to this aim we have already started to take the first steps in this area and will continue to do so. Please keep a lookout for the new lines we want to introduce in the coming weeks and months.

We have for some time been working on updating certain areas of our internal structures to remain compliant with the ever changing UK legislation. This is an ongoing situation but it’s important that you are aware information we have remains safe secure and compliant.

We also feel it is important, moving towards the future, that we need to build upon the good governance of the whole organisation and formulise that governance in written form. This good governance means we need to have established rules to adhere too and thus as a consequence of this it means we are going to introduce a written constitution and also a equalities charter to run alongside it. We want to be an all-inclusive organisation that is relevant amongst all the supporters of our football club who want to belong to an independent voice of the supporters, safe in the knowledge that we are not discriminating against anyone and are welcoming to all. To grow we need to do this.

The committee wish it to be known that they have endorsed both the newly written constitution and the equalities charter and are eager to move forward to where we want LLSC to be. It will become one of the major cornerstones of our organisation and will stand us in good stead for future generations of supporters as we move into a new era of the Power Court age and what comes with it. We want to be at the forefront of representing the independent voice of our supporters and have an organisation that is organised and fit for purpose.

We have also decided that it is time that we should affiliate with the Football Supporters Association and added to this we are also looking at other organisations which we feel will benefit you as members. There have been certain issues in the last few years that advice from bodies such as the FSA would have really helped our members regarding certain issues around attending games. The FSA are well respected throughout the country and have been at the forefront of many campaigns we align ourselves with and so we want to be involved with some of these campaigns that go to the heart of the game we all love. We will keep you up to date on the progress of affiliation.

By organising LLSC on a more formal footing allows us to do so much more and grows the organisation into the full potential of that independent voice we all jealousy guard, more respected, more relevant, more influential in representing you the members at every level inside and outside of the football club.

We have posted the new constitution on the LLSC website along with the new equalities charter, please read through both documents and if you have any comments or concerns please don’t hesitate in contacting me or the committee via the comments section on our web page. We welcome you opinions on these issues as this is a big step for all us both both the committee, but more importantly you our members.

Stronger Together,

Kevin  Rouse
